Job Introduction

Job Title: Project Officer

Salary: £16,700 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Job Location:  Holly House – Women’s Refuge in Wigan & Leigh

Contract Duration:  Permanent

Hours (weekly):  Average 35 per week, working a 10 week shift pattern (12.5 hour shifts working days, night and weekends)

Holly House provides safe and secure emergency accommodation for women and their children fleeing domestic abuse.

As a project officer in a refuge, you will have an understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on women, young people and children, and be committed to working in a non-discriminatory manner to provide service users with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. You will work to empower residents and provide them with practical and emotional support in order to enable them to move on from the abuse.

The ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information is essential as is experience of working with women, young people and children in a similar support setting. A flexible approach is essential within the team whilst ensuring that the highest standard of service is provided at all times. You will be self-motivated, flexible and able to work under pressure, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

You will be required to work flexibly, including night and weekend working on a rota basis.

In addition to the above you will embrace the culture of continuous improvement to support Value for Money throughout the organisation and have a passion for doing things right first time.

Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have good time management skills, the ability to utilise common sense and initiative and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of domestic abuse and the impact on victims and their children.

This role is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. 

Therefore a DBS ENHANCED check for a regulated activity is an essential requirement.
