Procurement Head of Category - Construction (Repairs, Maintenance & Refurbishment)

Role:  Head of Category- Construction (Repairs, Maintenance & Refurbishment) – Ref YHG/TP/66/179

Salary:  £64,000 - £80,400 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Location:  Groupwide based in Birchwood, Warrington

Duration:  Permanent

Hours:  35 per week, working Monday to Friday

Tier:  2A

To support our vision to lead the way as a new generation housing provider, a new Procurement Team is being established, with a primary aim of delivering significant savings in order to release cash to fund the growth ambitions of the Group.

We have an exciting opportunity for Head of Category Construction (Maintenance & Repairs), reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer , focused on developing and managing procurement solutions for approx. £48m per annum spend on Maintenance & Repairs. 

You will have significant experience within the construction industry with a strong focus on maintenance and repairs and a deep understanding of this particular market sector at the various tiers of the supply chain. The post holder will have extensive experience of the full end to end Category Management approach, knowledge of using spend analytics to identify cost saving opportunities,  together with a good understanding of European procurement legislation and a strong working knowledge of contract law.

In addition, good contract management and supplier relationship management is essential to the success of this role, as you will be required to hold contractors to account with a strong commercial focus in order to ensure negotiated savings are actually achieved and a continuous improvement ethos is sustained.

This is a challenging and interesting role that gives you the opportunity to strategically drive cost savings, whilst also maintaining the required quality and customer service standards.

We are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills to drive cross-functional change and be confident developing and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships at Board/Executive Leadership Team level and with Senior Management at key suppliers.

Ideally you will hold a membership of (or working towards) Chartered institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or equivalent.

In addition to the above you will embrace the culture of continuous improvement to support Value for Money throughout the organisation and have a passion for doing things right first time.
