We are currently seeking to recruit a customer & results focused individual who is able to assist our customers to maximise their income and assist them to sustain their tenancies. You will have proven experience of delivering welfare benefits advice in a housing or public sector setting and an ability to manage your own diary & workload whilst accurately recording outcomes for customers.
What are we looking for? We are looking for a flexible & results driven Money Advice Officer who is ambitious and resilient with a proven ability to deliver excellent customer service.
Operating as part of YHGs specialist Income Team, this role will involve collaborative working with Income colleagues as well as Housing Management Teams, the Department for Work & Pensions and Local Authority partners.
You will work agilely to undertake visits to customers’ homes to adequately assess their financial situations and assist them to resolve benefit issues. You may be required to assist with managing debts or signposting to appropriate agencies.
How will we prepare you for this exciting new way of working? Prior to fully undertaking the role, the successful applicant will undertake a robust induction programme working with managers and peers in the money advice team, this will include introductions to other operating areas of the business & a corporate induction.
Who are we looking for? Ideally, you will have at least 2 years of delivering benefit and debt advice. You will be flexible and already have strong administration, organisation and planning skills with an ability to acquire knowledge and grasp new concepts quickly.
- Experience of effectively managing a customer caseload.
- Experience of resolving complex benefit queries.
- Able to demonstrate passion around customer service in order to provide the highest possible service
- A strong communicator with a high level of attention to detail and enjoy working as part of a fast- paced team
- Compassionate and non-judgemental
- Able to achieve targets and deadlines whilst working under daily pressure.

This role is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. Therefore, a DBS basic check for a regulated activity is an essential requirement.
