So…. What is this role exactly?
Due purely to the promotion of our Head of Repairs into a secondment opportunity to support the delivery of a new project across the group, we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Repairs & Maintenance to join YHG in a fixed term capacity for a minimum of 18 months as Head of Repairs and Maintenance.
Working in close partnership with the Director of Repairs & Maintenance, the Head of Repairs & Maintenance will play a key role in continuing to drive forward the culture, skills and technologies required to deliver a best in class, high performing, customer first service for all our customers and make a real impact in continuing the delivery of YHG’s in house repair services improvement journey.
What will my working week look like?
You will be home based based, living within the Northwest, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses when needed. Realistically, you will be required to visit our Head Office or be out within the region managing the workforce two to three times a week.
You will play an instrumental role in leading the delivery of our repairs service, across YHGs 5 regional areas (1. Liverpool, Halton and Sefton, 2. Warrington/St Helens, 3. Cheshire and Staffordshire 4. Lancashire and Yorkshire and 5. Greater Manchester) leveraging your previous experience in leading a customer focused repairs team to help drive service excellence and ensure adherence to compliance and operational standards.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will lead the development and operational provision of our repairs and maintenance offering, ensuring the highest standards of customer care and service delivery are achieved, and that all works are undertaken to the highest standards of quality and safety for all.
Working in Partnership with the Director of Repairs and Maintenance, you will cascade strategic priorities and business plans throughout the repairs teams and be responsible for the Implementation of these key objectives.
Importantly, you will also be the strategic lead to each of the Managers that will operate as your direct reports, providing leadership, guidance, and support as they partner with you to deliver on our business plans, and be that effective sounding board and mentor where needed.
There is a real opportunity here, to shape positive and constructive change within the Repairs and Maintenance division within service delivery, performance, and customer experience, ensuring our Customer Journey continues to strive towards best in class!
Our repairs and maintenance teams have continuously developed and improved performance over the past 2 years and there is now a genuine window for them to elevate to a high performing service under the right leadership.

What’s key to this role is that experience in leading a sizeable, repairs and maintenance division that also provides you with the insight and understanding of how to implement real change at the operational level, and take our skilled, predominantly field based workforce on the next part of this journey, which will only benefit our customers.
Ideally you will be an exceptional leader, resilient and keen to lead from the front and champion YHG’s core values. A proven relationship builder, you will be confident communicating all levels, internally and externally to build positive partnerships with both the wider business and core external partners.
This role is really suited to someone who believes in being a visible and approachable leader, intuitive to the temperature of the Division and the sector, and how this could impact on both the teams and customers under your care.
