So…. What is this role exactly?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance or Financial Controller to join YHG as our Head of Finance – Reporting & Controls on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave for 14 months to lead and manage our statutory financial reporting requirements.
We are looking for a senior finance professional with knowledge of the Housing Sector, that relishes having both a high level of autonomy, and the opportunity to work operationally with the teams within your remit to really own the numbers.
As one of the key senior leaders within the finance function, you will work in partnership with the CFO and other Heads of Finance to continue to develop our finance service into a high performing, best in class service, and ensure confidence in financial reporting through robust financial controls.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will form a strong partnership with our newly appointed CFO, to work alongside the other Heads of Finance to build and lead a finance function that has the capability through its controls and processes to effectively report and utilise both qualitative and quantitative financial data to drive organisational performance and decision-making.
An effective communicator and leader, you will have primary responsibility and full oversight of financial controls, all statutory and regulatory accounting activities including rents and service charges for Your Housing Group. Also included within this role as you would expect; tax, audit, financial risk and business continuity planning, finance policies and procedures, and financial compliance. This will enable the delivery of accurate and consistent financial reporting.
And what would make me stand out from the crowd?
To be successful as our fixed term Head of Finance – Reporting & Controls, you will be a confident decision maker, a leader of people, and a strong influencer. You will need to have a keen future focus, be able to identify and implement both operational and policy improvements, ensuring these are adopted throughout the finance function as best practice.
Ideally you will also be an inspirational developer of people, with a genuine desire to further the skills and experience of the employees within your teams through effective communication, mentorship, and training.
This role is ideally suited to someone who’s exceptional at building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships, experienced in contributing to the development and enabling the delivery of the vision, ensuring full understanding, and engagement with these senior stakeholders and the teams they lead.
