So…. What is this role exactly?      

This is an exciting opportunity for two Floating Support Officers who will join the VTSS team in Warrington, you will be based in the Gateway on Sankey Street in Warrington a busy hub of activity open to the public and other organisations.

VTSS are celebrating 28 years being based in Warrington supporting those who need us most, the team are passionate about helping others and each other to gain the best possible outcomes for our customers who won’t always be Your Housing Group tenants.  

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team member who has a passion for going the extra mile to coach and support individuals or families who are experiencing or threatened with homelessness, offering resettlement/tenancy support in their own home.

We need someone who is flexible and enjoys a challenge.

What will my working week look like?

Working your contracted hours, Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday 9am-3/3:15pm, flexibility can be discussed at interview stages, you will be based at the Gateway in an open plan office environment, you will regularly visit customers within their own homes, you may also meet with them at third party venues or external agency settings.

You will need to be based within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington to attend meetings and training courses as required.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will facilitate regular face to face assessment and support sessions whilst undertaking the role of designated ‘Duty Officer’ forming part of an established rota with other team members.  You will meet with prospective customers to complete an established Support Plan and Risk Assessment, update case notes and agreed actions onto a case management system.

You will liaise with partner organisations to engage with customers, accompanying them to planned appointments by walking with them or meeting them at the premises. 

 A lone worker device will need to be utilised at all times.

You will allocate and accept referrals, manage your own caseload and workload, be responsible for maintaining regular, at least weekly, contacts with your customers also visiting them in person to support their progress, coaching them to achieve positive outcomes.

One of the great things about this role is that you can make a difference – if you are a good listener and have the skills to coach and engage people, who may have experienced real challenges and barriers, you can help to break them down.

Your other duties will include making electronic referrals to other providers and charities, completing application forms, attending internal and external meetings, lone working and working as part of a dedicated team.

This role is really suited to someone who likes to deal with people in person/face to face, is a good listener, who can engage in meaningful conversations, motivational interviewer, can be assertive an advocate and has a sense of humour.
