Job Introduction

So…. What is this role exactly?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Manager to join our small, yet well established, collaborative procurement team that offers the autonomy to both manage and drive our fleet forward, in a role that also provides fantastic flexibility and homeworking.

It’s a great time to join YHGs procurement team as Fleet manager as there are several exciting projects on the horizon specifically within fleet, geared around sustainability. Synchronised with this, is the opportunity to lead on the replacement of around 40% of our fleet within the next 12 months and our new Fleet manager will lead on these projects.

We are looking for someone who really wants to make this role their own, not just managing the day-to-day requirements for a fleet of commercial vehicles (150), but also keen to drive fleet forward and lead on initiating best practice, utilising data to influence positive change and to deliver a best-in-class fleet service absolutely fit for purpose.

And who are Your Housing Group?

If you live in the Northwest, you may have heard of Your Housing Group and know us as a Housing Association, but really, there’s a lot more to YHG that make it a great place to work!

We are a partner to Homes England and one of the North’s sector-leading landlords, reinvesting in our 29K properties and building 1,000 new homes each year. We also provide a wide range of housing solutions to support vulnerable adults, vulnerable children, and provide a wide range of extra support services.  We pride ourselves on helping people at every stage of life to live in quality homes they can afford and place safety at the heart of all that we do - for customers, colleagues, and our supply chain.

We’re an employer of choice, 88% of colleagues recommend us as a 'great place to work'

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of YHG’s fleet and end to end fleet management process (i.e. managing the order pipeline, fleet strategy development, license checking, servicing and maintenance, driver training etc), through to accident claims processes and risk management, ensuring the compliance of our fleet.

One of the great things about this role is you will hold full autonomy for this end-to-end fleet management process and will be seen within the business as our subject matter expert in fleet management, responsible for driving the 5-year Fleet strategy, with input into that strategy, in partnership with our Head of Category.

And what would make me stand out from the crowd?

To be recognised as our SME for fleet you will need good knowledge of Fleet regulations, legislation, policies, and procedure, along with experience of Fleet management and the ability to manage contracts, tender processes and spend associated with this area.

Data will play a huge part in improving and shaping change within our fleet and this is embedded into our 5-year fleet strategy, so strong data analysis experience, including the ability to interpret data and make recommendations will be key for this role.

Ideally you will be a keen relationship builder, able to communicate and influence at all levels both internally with stakeholders within Repairs & Maintenance, Health & Safety and Human Resources teams and externally with contract suppliers and partners.

This role is really suited to someone who likes to have a high level of autonomy in their role and the opportunity to implement change, both through quick wins from utilising a common sense approach, and creative and innovative thinking to deliver on longer term objectives.

That’s all sounds great.... What’s in it for me?

In return we offer a salary of £33,600 - £42,210 for a 35-hour week, and 25 days annual leave (holidays also increase with time served) plus Bank Holidays, but our benefits are far more than a competitive salary and holiday allowance.

We offer a fantastic flexible, home working culture where you are measured on your outputs. So, as well as working from home, whether you need time for an appointment, the school run or an exercise class, if it fits with what the business needs from your role, talk to your manager, we are open to what works for you too! When you want those social interactions with your team, we have a state-of-the-art collaboration space based in Warrington, which you’ll also need to visit at times for team days, meetings and training etc.

We also provide a great benefits package, including a contributory pension where we match whatever you contribute (up to 8%), an advanced level Healthcare cash plan that doesn’t just provide dental and optician cashback, but also health and wellbeing benefits (such as 24/7 GP Access and alternative therapy treatments) and an amazing discount scheme that gives half price cinema tickets, subsidised gym memberships and a huge range of discounts with some of the biggest high street and online names.

So, if you are a Fleet Manager, ready for a new challenge in a role you can really make an impact in and help shape the change, then we would love to hear from you! YHG1
