So…. What is this role exactly?
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced surveyor specialising in (or looking to specialise) in fire safety to join our Fire Safety Team as a Fire Safety Surveyor. This is a regional role, which is homebased, when not travelling across our properties across the North West.
Fire Safety is a high priority at YHG and as a key member of the Fire Safety Team you’ll be part of a small, dedicated team working towards our end goal of keeping customers safe.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about helping to keep our customers and buildings safe from the risk of fire.
What will my working week look like?
You’ll be working Monday to Friday with some flexibility of your working hours (although we do normally require cover during normal day time hours to meet business needs).
You will live within the North West to be able to cover your patch. You will also live within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington to attend meetings and training courses.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, as our Fire Safety Surveyor, you will act as a technical expert for passive fire prevention works, including compartmentation and fire doors to ensure compliance with legislation and the safety of our customers. You will play a key role in the delivery of our FRA action remediation works by completing pre-works, in-works and post-works inspections (site audits). You will support the Fire Safety Team to meet performance targets for the completion of FRA actions.
One of the great things about this role is that you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in our communities, by helping to make our buildings safer. You will have clear team and personal objectives to work towards and the opportunity to learn and progress.
You will work closely with our fire safety contractors and be confident to challenge performance and quality of works, ensuring compliance with CDM requirements. You will also support the business by responding to any urgent fire safety risks identified at any our buildings, offering guidance to the Compliance Team or other teams including Housing Management and Older People Services, on how to mitigate or remediate those risks.

To be a successful as a Fire Safety Surveyor, here at YHG, you will have….
- experience in completing property surveys to audit fire safety works
- experience managing or working with contractors including challenging poor standards when necessary
- experience of progressing fire risk actions
- strong communication skills
