Job Introduction

So…. What is this role exactly?

This is an exciting, brand-new opportunity here at Your Housing Group to join us as our Director of Repairs and Maintenance and assume the strategic leadership and management of our well-established, in-house Repairs & Maintenance division.

Our in-house Repairs and Maintenance Service has grown and evolved exponentially over the last 18 months and its this growth that has driven the requirement to now appoint a Director of Repairs and Maintenance to this key division of YHG, who can lead these teams to continue to drive forward the culture, skills and technologies required to move to a high performing, customer first model for all our customers.

And who are Your Housing Group?

Your Housing Group is a registered social landlord helping people at every stage of life to live in quality homes they can afford.

As one of the North’s sector-leading landlords, we are proud to play our role in tackling the UK's housing crisis by continually reinvesting in our 29,000 properties and tailoring our services to meet the diverse needs of our customers. We also build over 1,000 new homes each year.

We’re an employer of choice, over 88% of colleagues here recommend us as a 'great place to work'.

What would I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will lead the development and provision of our repairs and maintenance offering, ensuring the highest standards of customer care and service delivery are achieved, and that all works are undertaken to the highest standards of quality and safety for all.

Working in Partnership with our also newly appointed Chief Property Officer, you will help shape strategic priorities and business plans and cascade these through the teams to deliver on our key objectives.

You will also be the strategic and operational lead to each of the Heads of Division and Managers that will operate as your direct reports, providing leadership, guidance, and support as they deliver on these business plans, and be that effective sounding board and mentor where needed.

What’s great about this role is…

As this is a newly created post, there is a real opportunity to shape the change, and ensure our Customer Journey continues to strive towards best in class!

Our repairs and maintenance teams have continuously developed and have met the market challenges over the last 2 years and there is now a genuine window for them to become a high performing service with the right leadership.

As a member of our senior leadership team, you will also have the autonomy to transform service delivery, performance, and customer experience, and collaborate with both the Senior and Executive teams on wider business objectives.

And what would make me stand out from the crowd?

What’s key to this role is that experience in leading a sizable repairs and maintenance function that also provides you with the insight and understanding of how to implement real change at the operational level, and take our skilled, predominantly field based workforce on the next part of this journey, which will only benefit our customers.

Ideally you will be an exceptional leader, resilient and keen to lead from the front. A strong relationship builder, you will be confident communicating all levels, internally and externally to build positive partnerships with both the wider business and core external partners.

This role is really suited to someone who believes in being a visible and approachable leader, intuitive to the temperature of the Division and the sector, and how this could impact on both the teams and customers under your care.

That’s all sounds great.... What’s in it for me?

In return we offer a highly competitive salary, a 9/10% Car allowance, and 29 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

We offer a fantastic flexible, home working culture where you are measured on your outputs. When you want those social interactions with your Direct reports and teams, we have a state-of-the-art collaboration space based in Warrington, which you’ll also need to visit for team days, meetings and training when required.

We also provide a great benefits package, including a contributory pension where we match whatever you contribute (up to 8%), Private medical insurance (Aviva), an advanced level Healthcare cash plan that doesn’t just provide dental and optician cashback, but also health and wellbeing benefits (such as 24/7 GP Access and alternative therapy treatments) and an amazing discount scheme that gives half price cinema tickets, subsidised gym memberships and a huge range of discounts with some of the biggest high street and online names.
