So…. What is this role exactly?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations/Contract Manager to join our high performing Asset Compliance team.

Due to team expansion, we are looking to recruit an additional Compliance Operations Manager, who will have overall operational responsibility for services including Asbestos, Fire Safety Systems, M&E, Lifts and Water Hygiene.

Safety is YHG’s number one business priority and as a senior member of the Asset Compliance Team you will play a key role in ensuring YHGs regulatory and statutory asset compliance obligations are met, and our customers and buildings are safe.

We are looking for an individual who is experienced in delivering servicing and maintenance contracts at a senior level, ideally within social housing . Strong leadership and management skills are essential along with ability to manage and maintain constructive relationships with contractors and other stakeholders. You will be required to manage and deliver a number of internal projects simultaneously, lead on service improvement and establish, implement and maintain a performance framework for the management of contractors.

What will my working week look like? 

The role is Monday to Friday with flexible working hours (although we do normally require cover during normal day time hours to meet business needs).

You will live within the North West, with the ability to visits sites across the region. You will also live within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington to attend meetings, training courses and team collaboration days.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of a team of servicing and maintenance contract delivery staff, with specific responsibility for ensuring YHG’s compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations  and service standards for Asbestos, Fire Safety Systems, M&E, Lifts and Water Hygiene. 

Working alongside the existing Compliance Operations Manager you will establish, implement and maintain a performance framework for the management of contractors, ensuring YHG achieve value for money and the best possible service for it’s customers.

You will lead on service improvement, reviewing and identifying lessons learnt from customer complaints and develop creative technical solutions to maintenance and repair issues, seeking new and innovative building maintenance technologies. You will also lead on the procurement and commissioning of contracts, including preparing technical specifications and tender documentations.

You will be required to keep up to date with relevant legislation, health & safety and best practice and adapt service delivery accordingly.

One of the great things about this role is that it is a new role, giving you the opportunity to make it your own. You will have clear team and personal objectives to work towards and the opportunity to learn and progress.  You will also have the opportunity to work with a cross section of colleagues across the organisation including our Repairs, Planned Investment, Development and Housing Management teams.

  • experience in delivering servicing and maintenance contracts at a senior level, ideally within social housing.
  • experience of managing and leading staff and teams.
  • experience of managing budgets.
  • the ability to carry out data analysis/manipulation and produce clear, well-structured reports to Boards and management teams.

Ideally you will…

  • hold an Asbestos, Fire Safety Systems, M&E, Lifts or Water Hygiene qualification.
  • be willing to undertake training to further improve on your technical knowledge.
  • have experience of talking to customers and resolving complaints.
  • have a thirst for personal development and progression.
