Role: Category Manager - Construction (Development and Asset); Procurement
Salary: £50,000-£60,000
Location: Groupwide role based in Warrington
Duration: Permanent
To support our vision to lead the way as a new generation housing provider YHG established a Procurement Team in 2017 with a primary aim of delivering significant savings to release cash to fund the growth ambitions of the Group.
What your role will be
Due to the growth aspirations of the Group, with a business plan of building a minimum of 1000 home per year, there is now an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager Construction (Development and Asset), reporting to the Head of Category – Construction, to support the development of procurement solutions for this new venture.
You will work with key stakeholders from development, asset and compliance to ensure the business needs of these areas are met. You will lead on procurement projects to deliver the outcomes required and ensuring value for money is achieved.
In addition, you will be involved in contract management of strategic contracts and be able to hold contractors to account, with a strong commercial focus to ensure negotiated savings are achieved and continuous improvement is sustained.
Your background
You will have significant experience within the construction or housing industry with a deep understanding of key categories such as new build, asset and compliance.
You will have either a Quantity Surveying or Procurement background and hold the relevant qualifications.
You will also have excellent stakeholder relationship management skills to drive cross-functional change and be confident developing and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships at Senior Leadership Team level and with Senior Management at key suppliers.
