Building Safety Manager (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

Job Introduction

Job Title: Building Safety Manager (12 month fixed term contract)

Salary Range:  £60,000 - £65,000

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

Location: Regional worker role

Hours: 35 hours per week

So, what is this role exactly?

This is a rare opportunity to join Your Housing Group's established and highly collaborative Building & Fire Safety Team as a Building Safety Manager on a 12-month maternity cover contract. The safety of our customers is our number one priority, and this role plays a key part in ensuring our higher-risk and complex buildings remain safe and compliant.

Over the next 12 months, you'll help maintain compliance with the Building Safety Act, manage Building Safety Case information, support external wall assessment programmes, engage with regulators and oversee remediation actions arising from fire and building safety assessments.

Working alongside a fellow Building Safety Manager and as part of the wider Asset Team, you'll collaborate closely with the Building & Fire Safety Lead, Head of Compliance & Building Safety and colleagues across YHG to deliver positive building safety outcomes for our residents.

What will my working week look like?

This is a flexible role, combining home working with regular travel to the buildings within your portfolio. You'll be visible on-site, providing building safety leadership, technical assurance and support to colleagues, contractors and engaging with residents. Meetings are a mix of virtual and in-person where required, giving you the flexibility to manage your own diary while maintaining a strong presence across the business.

What will I be responsible for doing?

You'll work closely with another BSM and the Building and Fire Safety Lead, playing a key role in ensuring Your Housing Group meets its obligations under the Building Safety & Fire Safety Acts and associated regulatory requirements. Working across a portfolio of higher-risk buildings, you'll provide assurance that building safety risks are effectively identified, managed and mitigated.

You'll help to lead on the development, maintenance and continual improvement of Building Safety Cases and the Golden Thread of Information, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and readily available to support regulatory compliance and informed decision-making.

Resident safety and engagement will be at the heart of your role. You'll work with other teams to deliver meaningful resident engagement, ensuring residents are informed, listened to and able to participate in building safety matters that affect their homes.

Working closely with colleagues, contractors and regulators you'll monitor building safety performance, oversee remediation and improvement programmes, and support the delivery of external wall assessment recommendations and other regulatory actions through to completion.

You'll also be responsible for maintaining robust digital records, supporting the development of building safety knowledge across the organisation, and ensuring your own professional competence remains current through continuing professional development and engagement with sector best practice.
