This is an exciting opportunity for Audit & Controls Officer to join our dynamic, friendly and successful Risk & Assurance Team.
This crucial role will provide controls assurance & risk oversight in key areas and work with stakeholders in an engaging, professional, and pragmatic manner.

We are looking for someone who has fantastic attention to detail, understand internal control frameworks and risk management and can balance being objective with building great relationships.
What will my working week look like?
You will be homebased, living within the North West, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses. You’ll be required to visit our Head Office approximately once a week.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will be conducting a programme of internal controls testing across the business using a risk-based approach to check that that as a business we are following our processes. You will also be working with and providing guidance to managers to make improvements where required in a supportive manner.
One of the great things about this role is the variety! You will also be working with the business to identify, manage & mitigate risks, supporting the outsourced internal audit partners on the Internal Audit programme and get involved in Business Continuity Testing.

To be a successful as Audit & Controls Officer, here at YHG, you will have….
- Internal auditing experience or a background in internal controls assurance
- Understand how to maintain and develop good relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Understanding of internal controls, auditing techniques including risk and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of COSO framework (not essential).
- Recognised internal audit or accounting qualification (such as CIA, ACA, CIMA). (not essential)
