So…. What is this role exactly?
This is an exciting opportunity for an Entry level Surveyor to join Your Housing Groups Graduate programme within the Asset Strategy & Sustainability team.
This is a great time to be joining YHG, as we are growing our already established internal surveying team and currently have 3 x opportunities for Entry level Surveyors that have a relevant building surveying or construction related degree or HND or have recently fully completed a building surveying apprenticeship.
We are looking for ambitious, driven, enthusiastic individuals with an appetite to learn and develop. The successful candidate will begin with a structured training programme with access to further certifications including:
- An Introduction to Social Housing
- Legislation Workshops
- Building Pathology Seminars
- City & Guilds Domestic Energy Assessor Qualification
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System Qualification
- Shadowing/Mentorship from a Senior Asset Surveyor and the Asset Surveying Manager
Once training is complete you will become a key member of the surveying team tasked with the successful delivery of Your Housing Groups annual survey programme consisting of stock condition surveys, investment programme validation surveys, estate audits, HHSRS inspections and energy efficiency assessments.
What will my working week look like?
The role will involve working from home, the office and predominantly out on site. You will live within a reasonable travel distance to cover our portfolio and within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington to attend training seminars and meetings.
What will I be responsible for doing?
On successful completion of our training programme, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Your Housing Groups annual stock condition programme and the validation of the forthcoming years investment programme.
You will also be expected to undertake other surveys such as estate audits, balcony surveys, energy efficiency assessments and Energy Performance Certificates.

To be a successful Asset Surveyor (Entry Level), here at YHG, you will have….
- A degree or HNC/HND level qualification in a building surveying or construction related subject.
- An understanding of building surveying practices
- Full UK driving license and use of own vehicle
Ideally you will have ….
- Some knowledge of UK Housing regulations, legislation and best practice
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve practical issues
- Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
This role is really suited to someone who likes to work with customers, front facing and at a fast pace, adapting your approach to suit individual customer needs and be great at time management.
