Asset Accountant

So…. What is this role exactly?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, fully qualified accountant with Fixed Asset experience within a large asset-based business, to join our Finance team, to develop and maintain a best-in-class asset accounts service to YHG, whilst driving improvements in processes and controls.

There are a lot of positive changes taking place following the appointment of our new CFO and FD. This role is one in which you can make a real difference to the department and the Group as a whole. You can contribute to noticeable improvements in processes and controls building a reputation as a trusted and credible finance professional.

What will my working week look like? 

You will be homebased, living within the North West, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses.  You’ll be required to visit our Head Office approximately 2-4 times a month, though this may differ depending on departmental and team workloads.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, working with accounting and finance colleagues you will be responsible for ensuring fixed asset accounting is accurate and timely, including completion of monthly reconciliations of the Fixed Asset Register.

You will also have line management responsibilities for a small team of Assistant Asset Accountants, supporting them to achieve personal and operational goals and develop their skills.

Reporting to the Business Finance Manager you will have exposure to senior and executive leadership team on a regular basis.  This role will be key to providing assurance to key internal and external stakeholders.

To be a successful as an Asset Accountant, here at YHG, you will be highly analytical in your approach and able to proactively manage priorities. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build and maintain stakeholder relationships at all levels.

You will also have excellent attention to detail to ensure sufficient and accurate information within the FAR and reconciliations.

Ideally you will have experience of working in a regulated environment and an understanding of tax legislation relevant to development companies and housing associations.

This role is really suited to someone who likes to work collaboratively, providing technical advice to non-finance colleagues in a way that they can understand.
