Your Housing Group has two fantastic opportunities for a Cantonese speaking Support Officer, primarily managing sheltered housing for the Chinese community in Faulkner Court, Manchester. Both are fixed term contracts until 31st March 2020.
In the rewarding role of Support Officer, you will be responsible for the tenancy management of sheltered housing schemes for the Chinese community in central Manchester, providing advice and support to residents to maintain their independence, assisting them to maintain their tenancy through a range of culturally sensitive housing services.
You will have a solid understanding of Chinese culture and strong spoken Cantonese and English translation skills. Written Cantonese translation skills and previous experience of managing older people’s housing services would also be an advantage but are not essential.
As a Support Officer, you will provide appropriate advice and support to residents to maintain their independence, identifying any housing-related difficulties and sign-post to the right service assist residents to maintain their tenancies.
This role is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. Therefore, a DBS Enhanced adult barred check for a regulated activity is an essential requirement.
