Job Title:  Debit Collection Agent            

Salary: Circa £23,500 plus excellent benefits

Job Location:    Eaves Brook House, Preston

Contract Duration:   12 months

Hours (weekly): 35 hours per week; fixed shifts 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm (Monday to Saturday working only 1 in 6 weekends).

Your Housing Group is a new generation of housing provider, working efficiently and effectively to build as many quality houses as possible, thereby playing its part in solving the national housing crisis. With over 28,300 homes across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands, the business has a large portfolio of retirement living developments and an innovative private rental offer in Nuvu.

This role is responsible for all aspects of debit collection – General Needs current and former arrears, Sheltered Housing and Supported Housing arrears, as well as arrears around Market Rented, Leasehold and Shared Ownership properties – so there’s an opportunity to become involved in the arrears recovery process from beginning to end across a range of tenures, whilst working within a demanding and rewarding customer service environment.

Our collection services operate between 7 days a week, with Debit Collection Agents working as part of a small cohesive team, on a fixed rota basis for 35 hours per week.  Dependent upon your shift, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm (working 1 in 6 weekends between 9am-5pm) when you’re scheduled to work at the weekend, you will have 1 day off during the week, so always be working 35 hours over a 5-day working week.

How will we prepare you for this exciting new way of working? Prior to fully undertaking the role, the successful applicants will undertake a robust induction programme, covering crucial areas for success such as negotiation techniques, handling difficult calls and maximising income/debt recovery.

Who are we looking for? 

You will be flexible and already have strong administration, organisation and planning skills with an ability to acquire knowledge and grasp new concepts quickly.  Ideally, you will have already worked in a demanding customer service environment and be:

• A strong communicator with a high level of attention to detail and enjoy working as part of a fast paced team

• A highly skilled negotiator

• Experienced in dealing with difficult customers

• Able to achieve targets and deadlines whilst working under daily pressure

• Able to demonstrate passion around customer service in order to provide the highest possible service

You may be required to be mobile across the business to cover and support the Field Based Debit Recovery Agents.
